Milford Sound Heli-Cruise-Heli Express

- Duration: 240 Minutes (approx.)
- Location: Frankton, Queenstown
- Product code: HCH
This is the hero Milford Sound helicopter experience, combining a scenic heli flight, a jaw-dropping alpine landing, and a tranquil boat cruise through the fiord itself. From air to water, this flight is all about perspective.
Your journey starts at our heli base in Queenstown, lifting off towards the western reaches of Fiordland. We fly across the northern arm of Lake Whakatipu and track over the rugged ridgelines of the Richardson Mountains. The views are nothing short of incredible. Alpine valleys, remote high-country lakes, and pockets of untouched native bush fill your window at every turn.
During your flight Milford Sound will appear in all i’t’s glory. As we fly in, you’ll spot iconic Mitre Peak, towering cliffs, and waterfalls that drop straight from the clouds. Once we land near the water’s edge, your journey continues on a scenic boat cruise through the length of Milford Sound.
From this new vantage point, the scale of the fiord becomes even more impressive. You’ll cruise past dramatic cliffs and thundering waterfalls, including Fairy Falls, Stirling Falls, and the lush Hanging Gardens. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, fur seals, and, in spring and early summer, the rare Fiordland Crested Penguin.
On your flight, we’ll touch down on a remote alpine ridge so you can breathe in the crisp mountain air and take it all in. This short stop gives you a chance to connect with the landscape and capture a few photos that will leave your friends speechless.
The day ends with a final sweep over the wilderness of Fiordland and a renewed appreciation for the landscapes of the lower South Island. Add on the Earnslaw Burn for an additional adventure.
